Paint Manufacturing
Production & Quality Platform
Role‑aware web & mobile apps for batch planning, raw material management, QC/QA with COAs, barcode traceability, and regulatory documents—built on a modular, scalable stack.
About the project
The client operates multiple mixing lines producing decorative and industrial paint.
They needed a system to streamline batch planning, enforce formula controls, digitize QC/QA, and maintain full lot traceability—from raw materials to finished goods shipments.

Challenges
Manual batch sheets
Paper‑based formula instructions led to errors, rework, and limited auditability.
Traceability gaps
Difficult to trace raw material lots to finished goods, COAs, and customers.
Quality & compliance
VOC limits, SDS/labels, and COA generation required repeat checks across systems.
Scheduling & changeovers
Inefficient line sequencing caused downtime and raw material shortages.
Our solution
We built a modular MES‑lite layer with web & mobile interfaces that integrates with existing ERP to control recipes, guide operators, and provide end‑to‑end visibility.
Batch planning & MRP
Finite‑capacity scheduling with demand signals, lead times, and changeover rules.
Formulations & BOM
ersioned recipes with tolerances, alternates, and approval workflows for R&D and production.
Lot/label traceability
GS1 barcodes for raw, WIP, and FG; scan at weigh, mix, QC, pack, and ship.
QC/QA & COA
Inline tests (viscosity, gloss, density) with auto‑limits; COA generated per batch and shipment.
Inventory engine
Real‑time stock, reservations, and movement histories with audit trails and cycle counts.
Regulatory docs
SDS, TDS, labels, and VOC declarations managed in Payload CMS with approvals.
Operations console
Command center for schedule, exceptions, and KPIs; role‑based access and escalation.
Sales & fulfillment
Order promising, pick/pack/ship, delivery tracking, and customer COA portal.
Technologies used
High-level architecture
Web/Mobile
Next.js for planners, QA, and admin / React Native for weight, mix, pack operators.
Backend
NestJS services with REST/GraphQL; workers for scheduling, stock sync, and COA generation.
Database
PostgreSQL (RLS for multi‑plant); Redis for queues, caching, and real‑time events
Content
Payload CMS for SOPs, SDS/TDS, labels, and policy versioning with approvals
Security
RBAC, JWT, scoped APIs, audit logs; configurable e‑sign for critical operations
Integrations
ERP (orders, GL, suppliers), label printers, and optional IoT (scales, mixers).
